My jgaurora a5 arrived with the z couplers broken, and I had to make some repairs before it was operational. After several days of continuous printing, it seems like my fix is working well enough to be a permanent solution. The original 8mm nut was too large to fit through the stepper motor mount, so I modified it to make it round, allowing it to pass through the hole with ease. Although it's still possible to tighten or loosen it using pliers, this modification has made a big difference. To further improve the design, I added a hex on the center piece of the couplers, making it easier to tighten or loosen each nut separately as needed. Additionally, I put a flat spot on the 5mm side of the coupler to prevent the stepper motor shaft from spinning out of control.
