The Kazakh jetigen is a unique seven-stringed zither originating from Kazakhstan, closely related to the Mongolian yatga or Siberian jadagan. Traditional strings on these instruments were often crafted from horsehair. Initially, early versions resembled rectangular wooden boxes with stretched strings across the top. Over time, a separate sounding board was incorporated, and adjustable supports enabled each string to be raised above the board; by positioning these supports along the length of each string, musicians could precisely control the pitch of each note.
