Jet Engine, Single-Spool with AfterBurner

Jet Engine, Single-Spool with AfterBurner

cults3d

This type of engine has been around for over 50 years, yet it's still used in many military fighter jets. To better understand the differences between this engine and a turbofan engine model, we've designed and created 3D models for comparison. The features of this engine include: 1. A single spool with more than 10 stages long compressor rotor. 2. Half split casings. 3. Can-Annular combustion chamber. 4. AfterBurner with variable nozzle. When designing this engine, our focus was on the following key points: 1. The dummy bearing method is used for rotating the spool. 2. All stator vanes have been omitted to avoid rub of vanes and blades, but we've included a variable vane linkage imaged part for reference purposes. 3. The AfterBurner nozzle is complex and difficult to design, so we've only shown its "Open" and "Close" positions. 4. Certain parts that would be challenging to print without support are available as STL files with support. To make it easier to understand each part and the assembly order, we've prepared a parts breakdown and list. The downloadable files include: * 39 STL Files * Images for assembly aid * An Excel file (zipped) containing the parts list If you're planning to purchase parts, please refer to the parts list for details on aluminum tubes and screws. Assembly requires standard skills such as drilling, tapping, filing, tightening, painting, and gluing. Additionally, perseverance is essential, especially when it comes to tightening the rotor stop screws. For more information on this process, please refer to the attached photo titled "Rotor Screws Tightening". The estimated total net print time for this engine is approximately 50 hours, assuming the use of PLA material with a 0.4mm nozzle, 0.2mm layer height, and 40% infill without raft or support. Note that actual print times may vary depending on your experience and adjustments to printing parameters. Updates: * Price discount (2017.11.5) * Addition of STL files, photos, and images for "Non-Shrouded Turbine Blades Rotor" (2017.12.14)
