Jet engine, Gas turbine

thingiverse

This build caters to those who want to tinker around and conduct experiments with gas turbines in a straightforward and cost-effective manner. Since you either own or have access to a high-quality hobby 3D-printer, the build itself is a low-cost project, especially considering that the final result is an actual functioning display jet engine. The Gas turbine depicted in this build draws inspiration from Kurt Shreckling's FD3/64 design and features a single stage radial compressor and a single stage axial turbine with a traditional annular combustion chamber situated between them. This engine takes full advantage of the fact that a jet engine is relatively cool on the compressor side, where all parts are made of PLA. The hot turbine end of the engine is crafted from refractory cement, stainless steel, and hybrid ceramic ball bearings, which effectively manage their high-temperature potential. The engine's fuel system is designed for gaseous butane/propane, LPG.
