I have developed a cutaway model of several types of turboprop engines and Propfan engines. The fundamental component was simplified due to size restrictions of my 3D printer. I then decided to expand each component and create the actual model which provides structural explanation. This time, it's the "Planetary Gear" model. Almost all turboprop engines use "Planetary Gear" and some types of Propfan engine also utilize it. The Planetary Gear has three shafts. In turboprop use, one input and one output are usually used. In Propfan use, one input and two outputs are employed. The following explainable elements were incorporated: (1) Three shafts can be turned and secured individually; (2) Combinations of shafts are shown in the photo. All combinations will be established by this model. Download files include STL Files (16 items). STL file names have "ws" as the last two digits, indicating "With Support," which is specially designed. Assembly-Photos (PDF/ZIP format) are also included. Purchase Parts Information: Screws and Nuts (M2, M3) are required; see photo for details. Standard skill levels (such as drilling, tapping, filing, tightening, painting, and gluing) and perseverance are needed for assembly. Assembly procedures are shown in photos, and fit checks between parts are essential. Using grease on plastic can greatly help achieve smooth rotation. Total Net Print Time: Approximately 30 hours - (Estimated as the case of PLA, 0.4mm nozzle, 0.2mm layer height, 40% infill, and no raft or support). Note that actual print parameters may be adjusted based on experience. 3D printing settings such as Raft, Support, Layer Height, and Infill depend on individual experience. My models were printed using the "idbox" with a 0.4mm nozzle and 1.75 PLA. I hope you enjoy making these!
