Jet Engine Component (4); Planetary Gear
cults3d
I have created detailed models of various turboprop engines and Propfan engines using my 3D printer. I simplified the basic components due to size restrictions, then expanded each part to create a comprehensive model that explains its structure. This time, I'm focusing on the "Planetary Gear" model, which is widely used in nearly all turboprop engines and some Propfan engines. The Planetary Gear features three shafts, with one input and one output typically used in turboprop applications, while Propfan engines use one input and two outputs. I incorporated several explainable elements into this model: (1) The three shafts can be individually turned and secured. (2) A combination of shafts is shown in the photos, demonstrating how all possible combinations will be achieved through this model. The downloadable files include 16 STL files, with "ws" indicating a special design for printing with support. These files are essential for creating a precise replica of the Planetary Gear. When purchasing parts, you'll need to acquire screws and nuts in sizes M2 and M3, as seen in the photos. To assemble the model, standard skills such as drilling, tapping, filing, tightening, painting, and gluing will be required. Perseverance is also crucial. Assembly procedures are demonstrated in the photos, and it's essential to perform a fit check between parts before proceeding. Using grease for plastic components can significantly improve rotation. The estimated total net print time for this model is approximately 30 hours, assuming PLA filament, a 0.4mm nozzle, 0.2mm layer height, 40% infill, and no raft or support. However, you may need to adjust these parameters based on your personal experience during actual printing. I hope you enjoy creating this intricate model!
