Jet engine bracket for GE challenge
grabcad
The final mass of this bracket is 0.95 kg, which represents a 53.5% reduction in weight compared to its original form. While this design improvement may not be sufficient to compete against other options, I am accustomed to using metric measurements. However, I encountered difficulties with FEA due to my lack of experience with it and would greatly appreciate any assistance or tutorials on the subject; please feel free to contact me at saarniit.s@gmail.com. To better understand the thought process behind this design, a brief introduction is provided. Initially, I sought to eliminate unnecessary holes on the outer surface, as while they can contribute to mass reduction, they may also introduce complications. Secondly, I aimed to ensure that the middle portion of the feature would not be suspended in the air, as this would compromise its structural integrity. I hope to receive valuable feedback on my design. It is essential to note that this bracket was created using Solid Edge ST5 Academic version, and if you experience any issues opening the file, it may be due to the software used.
