According to the Hebrew Bible, Solomon's Temple was the Holy Temple in ancient Jerusalem before its destruction by Nebuchadnezzar II following the Siege of Jerusalem in 587 BCE and its subsequent replacement with the Second Temple in 516 BCE. The period when the First Temple presumably stood in Jerusalem is known as the First Temple period in academic literature. The Hebrew Bible states that Solomon, king of the United Kingdom of Israel and Judah, constructed the temple, which was dedicated to Yahweh during the Kingdom of Judah. The temple was later operated under different periods, including those honoring Asherah, Baal, the host of heaven, and a solar deity. A Wikipedia article notes that "the temple was burnt four hundred and seventy years, six months, and ten days after it was built."
