Jellyfish lamps with attachable tentacles
myminifactory
Tentacles are designed for printability, featuring hooks to securely grasp the jellyfish body. The larger tentacles droop diagonally around the center axis due to gravity's pull, creating a natural, tilted appearance that has yet to be tested in real-life situations. Printing challenges remain, as my nozzle has become clogged, but I anticipate exceptional results with translucent materials such as woodfill, Taulman T-Glaze, or ColorFabb XT, or even plain PLA/ABS. Tentacles may emerge at 1/10th scale; if so, scaling up will be necessary to achieve the desired size. To optimize prints with transparent materials, it's recommended to print only a single thick shell. The zero-thickness variant, designed for easy printing, allows attachment of small tentacles and should be printed as an open vase with no infill and solid top layers. Further refinements are underway to perfect this design.
