Jelbert Car cup holder for Amazon Echo Dot
thingiverse
This design makes it easy for an Amazon Echo Dot (2nd Generation) to fit snugly into a car. The adapter fits comfortably in the cup holder, securing the Echo Dot with both gravity and friction. Since our European cars have smaller cup holders compared to those in the USA, the Dot won't simply fall out. This design consists of two parts that need to be glued together using super glue. You'll find two possible positions for fitting the parts together, allowing for compatibility with different cup holders. For instance, if you're working with a new BMW 520d, you should use the off-center option. The OpenScad files are included so you can personalize the design according to your preferences. Please note that sharing and mentioning the original license is required. When printing this adapter, it's recommended to use materials like PC MAX or Inova1800, as they can withstand high temperatures and prevent warping caused by heat in a parked car. ABS might also be an acceptable option. For reference, I've included a picture of my in-car WiFi setup. Since the Echo Dot doesn't connect via Bluetooth, you'll need to use the Aux-in connector. My setup involves a TP-Link Portable 3G/4G Wireless N Router (TL-MR3020) paired with a Huawei E3533 3G USB stick from EE. You might also consider using a Teltonica RUT950/955 LTE 3/4G Router with Dual SIM. The Amazon Echo Dot is recognized as a trademark of www.amazon.com.
