Jeep Tube Door Latch

I needed an affordable way to create a latch for my custom-made tube doors on my Jeep Wrangler (TJ). Similar projects could also benefit from this design, such as gates or other mechanisms that require pressing a button. The latches are designed to close with a push without needing to press the button. To build one, you'll need a small spring for the internal mechanism and can obtain it from a set available at Harbor Freight. A couple of 4-40 screws or metric equivalents will also be necessary, along with a 1/4-20 screw for the center pivot. If needed, you can drill and tap holes due to their small size. However, it's essential to note that these latches should not rely on keeping doors closed during off-road accidents like rollovers; always wear seat belts as safety precautions. I included a mount but opted to replace it with a welded plate having matching holes instead. If you're fabricating similar tube doors, you can likely come up with a better mounting method.
