I swapped out the head unit in my JK Wrangler and the auto electrician just stuck a mic in front of the speedo. I figured it was better to ditch the stock UConnect Mic and run new mic wiring up the pillar, installing it in the same spot. Here's a simple mount for a 14mm diameter microphone that works like a charm. I've also added a more straightforward, squared design that's just as effective.
