Jebediah Kerman (Kerbal Space Program) (IVA suit)
thingiverse
Jebediah Kerman from the Kerbal Space Program game is showcased in his IVA suit, which is a unique blend of various suits from different game versions, cinematics, and the ACES suit. The suit was printed on an Ender 2 at 250% scale with a .08 layer height, taking a total of 60 hours to complete. However, if printed at 100% scale with a .2 layer height, it can be finished in under six hours. A personal touch was added by Jebediah's mother, who painted the suit using acrylic paint. Unfortunately, Jebediah admits to being a poor painter and struggling to stay within the lines. The visor of the IVA suit was created using vacuum forming, with an STL file available for both the visor itself and a vacuum forming mold. A homemade 20cm x 20cm vacuum forming machine and a .2mm acetate sheet were used in this process, with thicker sheets being recommended for better results. In response to user requests, Jebediah has included a full-body mesh option. He strongly advises against printing the entire suit at once and instead recommends breaking it down into smaller pieces. Users have posed several questions regarding the IVA suit: * Why doesn't the head fit through the helmet? The head is designed to enter through the visor opening. * How should one orient the prints, and where should support be placed on an FDM machine? A picture of Jebediah's Gcode has been included for reference. * What type of paint was used? Acrylics from various brands were used. * What specific colors were employed? The colors available at hand were utilized. Unfortunately, the exact names are unknown. * How was the clear visor created? Vacuum forming with acetate was used. A picture of Jebediah's homemade vacuum forming machine has been included. For further information on this process, users can search "vacuum Forming" on YouTube. Regarding future updates and sales: * Will EVA suit/ Valentina/ Bill/ Bob/ other facial expressions/ other poses be included? Not in the immediate future. However, if there is sufficient interest, Jebediah may consider adding these features. * Can I print and sell this model? Yes, but make sure to include Jebediah's name and a link as an attribution. Take2's lawyers are beyond his control. * Do I have to pay you something to sell this model? Not necessarily, but Jebediah would greatly appreciate it if you did. (And he can't speak on behalf of Take2 and their lawyers.) * How much do you want? The gesture matters more than the money. To be honest, Jebediah has never received any tips for his models, and only one person has asked him about this. He doesn't expect much, but if you're going to sell this model, he appreciates your effort. If you plan to tip him via PayPal, please gather at least 10 USD before sending it to avoid the fee of 5.4% + 0.30 USD per transaction.
