This 3D scan showcases a wooden carving that my late mother skillfully crafted.\nScanned using an Einscans S (Scanmaster Plus) scanner with precision and care.\nSliced into individual layers with the help of Simplify 3D's advanced software.\nThe model was then printed in PLA on a Prusa Original i3 Mk2, a reliable and robust printer.\nI know that a traditional samisen has three strings, but the original carving features four tuning pegs. Other than a four-stringed three-stringed samisen, I'm stumped - what else could it be?\nPrint Settings\nPrinter: Prusa Original i3 Mk2 - A reliable workhorse in my workshop.\nRafts: Yes, they provided stability during printing.\nSupports: Yes, crucial for maintaining the model's structural integrity.\nResolution: 0.15 millimeters - a high level of detail achieved through careful calibration.\nInfill: 20% - a balance between strength and weight.\nNotes: Made in PLA, a popular choice for its durability and versatility.\nThe printer stood upright as it worked tirelessly to bring the model to life, with plenty of supports to ensure stability. One challenge I faced was getting the ends of the sleeve to print smoothly, but I overcame this by utilizing Simplify 3D's 'dense' feature in my support system.\nPost-Printing\nThe removal of support material required great care and attention to detail.\nThe tuning pegs proved particularly tricky to free from their supporting structures without causing damage. A soldering iron with a fine point came to the rescue, allowing me to carefully separate the two. The result may not be perfect, but at least I was able to preserve the integrity of the delicate pegs.
