Another of Jean Gordon's carvings is scanned with an Einscan s (Scanmaster Plus). The scan is then fixed up in Meshmixer, sliced in Simplify3D, and printed on a Prusa Original i3 MK2. The scanner fails to do a good job scanning the region behind the penguin's feet and below the body, so I have to fix it up using Meshmixer. The 'egg' is a separate article that did not form part of the scan, and it was added in Meshmixer. Neither of the two posted variants is easy to print due to the support needed for the beak and wings. I've posted the penguin without egg as it is slightly easier to print because the support for the beak can project from the base rather than from the top of the egg. Removing the support from underneath the body is a bit tedious. Print Settings: Printer: Prusa Original i3 Mk2 Rafts: Yes Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.15 Infill: 20% Notes: Made in Polymaker's Polymax PLA, which I think has a wider printing window. It did a better job with the wing and beak supports than regular PLA.
