Jean Gordon's Carving: One Surface! Double Moebius Strip
thingiverse
This incredible carving, showcasing just one surface, is my top pick among all of my late mother's masterpieces. It blows my mind that such an intricate design could be carved from a single piece of wood. Perhaps it highlights a significant lack of aesthetic sense on my part - or maybe I'm simply an engineer by trade! Okay, fine - I admit it's a bit of a tautology. Anyway... I found this extremely challenging to scan. In the end, I had to piece it together, which is evident in one of the photos. It was scanned using an Einscan S (Scanmaster Plus). The scanning limitations and makeshift assembly required quite a lot of effort in Meshmixer. Sliced in Simplify 3D and printed full size on a Prusa Original i3 Mk2 in PLA. I also printed it half size on a Kodama Trinus in PLA and at 64% size in a Robox in ABS. Print Settings Printer: Prusa Original i3 Mk2 Rafts: Yes Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.2mm Infill: 20% Notes: That particular model was printed in PLA, and I successfully replicated it in ABS (on a CEL Robox). Both times, I printed the model upright as specified in the stl file. Post-Printing I simply removed the support material and then gave it some TLC with a half round needle file.
