Jean Gordon's Carving: Bird on stick
thingiverse
Another of my late mother's carvings sits proudly beside me, a testament to her skill and craftsmanship. I carefully scanned it with the Einscan S (Scanmaster Plus), tidying up the scan in Meshmixer before slicing it in Simplify 3D. The final product took shape on my Prusa Original i3 Mk2 printer, crafted from high-quality PLA material. Print Settings were meticulously chosen to bring out the best in this delicate piece: * Printer: Prusa Original i3 Mk2 * Rafts: I opted for a raft-free print to minimize any potential damage. * Supports: Strategically placed to ensure stability and prevent warping. * Resolution: A crisp 0.2mm resolution was selected to capture every intricate detail. * Infill: 20% infill density provided the perfect balance between strength and weight. Notes from the printing process reveal that I chose PLA as the material, a durable and versatile option for this project. Due to the reduced size of the print, removing support material proved to be a challenging operation, resulting in approximately 50% breakage rate during removal.
