Jean Gordon's Carving: Behind the Wood Shed
thingiverse
Another of my late mother's carvings, expertly recreated through cutting-edge technology. Using the Einscan S (Scanmaster Plus), I carefully scanned her intricate designs, refining them with precision in Meshmixer before slicing them to perfection in Simplify 3D. The result was a stunning print on my trusty Prusa Original i3 Mk2, crafted from high-quality PLA. Print Settings Revealed Printer: My reliable workhorse, the Prusa Original i3 Mk2. Rafts: Not necessary in this case, as I opted for a smooth start to the print. Supports: Absolutely essential, as they helped maintain the delicate structure of my mother's carving. Resolution: Set at an impressive 0.05, allowing every detail to shine through. Infill: A generous 20% ensured that the print was strong and sturdy without sacrificing any of its intricate details. Notes from the Print I made a conscious decision to print this piece at about one-third scale, choosing a fine resolution to preserve every last detail. The result was a beautiful, high-quality print in PLA that did justice to my late mother's remarkable carving. Post-Printing Process Removing the support material proved to be a laborious but essential task, requiring patience and care to ensure that every delicate edge remained intact.
