Jeanne d'Albret, also known as Jeanne III d'Albret or Joan III, ruled Navarre from 1555 until her death in 1572. She married Antoine de Bourbon, Duke of Vendôme, and was the mother of Henry of Bourbon, who became King Henry III of Navarre and later King Henry IV of France, marking the beginning of the Bourbon dynasty in France. Through marriage, she also held the title of Duchess of Vendôme. Jeanne d'Albret emerged as a prominent leader within the French Huguenot movement and played a pivotal role in the French Wars of Religion.
