JDM to NA License Plate Adapter
thingiverse
Japanese ("JDM") license plates differ slightly from North American (US/Canada) plates in terms of dimensions and hole spacing. This adapter attaches directly to the original plate mounting locations found on a JDM vehicle, allowing for the installation of a North American plate. The NA plate is positioned downward by 6mm due to height differences, enabling the use of lower retainers when equipped (as shown), while keeping the adapter hidden behind the installed plate. JDM holes are designed for 6mm machine screws, whereas NA plates have threaded holes suited for 5mm x .8 machine screws. Although it should be possible to utilize the 5mm screws as intended and have them clean up the printed threads, a tap was run through to tidy mine up since one was available. The bracket shown was printed in ABS and received a quick black coat because no black filament was on hand; aside from paint and thread cleanup, it bolted smoothly into place both front and rear.
