I recently stumbled upon a fascinating video online, showcasing a guy navigating his RC car with a GoPro camera mounted on it, streaming live footage back to a TV or projector. This sparked my interest and motivated me to create my own setup. To begin experimenting, I started filming with the RC car I purchased from Jaycar. However, I struggled to secure the GoPro camera using double-sided tape to the top of the plastic cover without damaging it. I decided to design a custom battery cover to replace the original one, allowing me to drive the car freely when capturing footage. The mount is compact and fits neatly underneath the cover when not in use. For accuracy, I measured the dimensions from the original battery cover as shown in the photo. My design may not be perfect or complex, but it serves my purpose and works effectively. Keep in mind that I've only been using Fusion 360 for about three weeks, so please don't judge me harshly. To aid others who might find this helpful, I've included the Fusion 360 file and STL for the GoPro mount, which can be easily incorporated into your own F360 projects or used with a slicer. If you're not familiar with F360, simply import the STL into your slicer and move it onto another object before printing. When assembling the mount, be aware that the M5 nut requires significant force to insert due to its tight fit. I broke one mount during prototyping, so to avoid excessive stress on the material, I recommend attaching the GoPro first and then leaning the mount against a table edge. If you choose to print this mount, I suggest doing it vertically with no supports. This should take minimal time and help determine whether the M5 nut fits or if adjustments are necessary to your print settings. To replicate this project, visit Jaycar's website for the Truggy: https://www.jaycar.com.au/1-12-scale-red-racing-truggy-2-4ghz/p/GT4209 Additionally, you'll need an M5 hex nut available from Bunnings in a pack of 12 for a few dollars.
