#Jaws of the Lion (Gloomhaven) based monster management system https://youtu.be/GWg_KGAT3iE It is a great game, but admittedly the monster management is a bit fiddly and confusing. E.g. you need to look at the game board, memorize the monster number, check with the monster stats (number of boots and damage), check the monster modifiers and memorise this and then return to the board and work out possible moves of mosters and rinse and repeat for a number of monsters (up to 8 in some scenarios). One solution is to use the Gloomhaven app, but still you need to memorise the stats and work out their movements and attacks on the board Therefore I started to work on the idea that we can have all the information of a monster visualised on the board (using the components=standees and condition markers) to make the great game less fiddly. I only played Jaws of the Lion and do not have a copy of the board game, therefore the prints are not tested on Gloomhaven/Frosthaven, but I assume they might work (e.g. is the card board the same thickness ~2 mm?) The system contains the following components: Life counter: though there are already some out there, I claim that mine is a bit different. Mine can be used without the standee to be picked up. Original standee holder are used (so this is for distinction of normal=white or upgraded=yellow monsters). I can be twisted even with one hand if you press the standee a bit down onto the board (though probably easier to use two hands). And as a special treat you can use little 3d printed hearts that disappear into the void when a monster was hit [so you visualize how the life is drained out of the monster = I know sounds grim ;-)]. A limitation is that it can only have 11 hit points (so in case the monsters has more you still need to keep track of hit points is higher than 11. You could use different color hearts but they disappear in chuncks and then you might need to exchange and the whole bit becomes fiddly again. As a bonus the life tracker has a nice clicking effect as well. [based on an idea from dtari https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2458265). Finally because hearts are a bit fiddly I designed a funnel to refill the hearts, which helps at the setup. In case you do not like the hearts (which can sometimes get stuck, I also designed a top that allows to use little metal spheres to be used, which never get stuck). At the beginning that was all I wanted to develop, but then I thought I can do better and add also the other monster info (condition, #of moves, #damage) to the monsters. This is nothing special the only difference is that I decided to create little plastic pieces that you can stick on the monster card board. **BE AWARE**: those pieces do slightly pinch your monster card board, hence some people do not like the idea. I do not bother much about it, but I though I let you know. You can skip also this part and only use the life counter system. For a single monster life counter you need to print: * one lc_bottom * one lc_top_hearts (for hearts) or one lc_top_spheres (for spheres of diameter <= 3mm) * one lc_spring * a fairly high number of hearts (if you do not use spheres) optional but really helpful to refill hearts/spheres * one lc_funnel (maybe two, three if more than one player can "fill up" monster hearts) For the condition/boot/damage attachment system: * four m_attach (2 conditions, 1 boot, 1 damage) per monster * A number of m_damage and m_boot 1-5 to attach the walking/damage numbers to the monsters. The good news all prints really quick (settings I used were: layer height 0.2, initial layer 0.3 and infill 20% (except hearts have no infill) and nozzle size was 0.4mm. The longest is the base which takes about 10 minutes on my Ultimaker Original). Be aware the hearts have to be printed precisely (otherwise they might bet stuck, so no elephant foot if possible, or you could slightly reduce their sice, though that might be the limit in size you can nicely print. Maybe use a 0.25 mm nozzle here if possible).
