Japanese Toy Horses
pinshape
These Japanese-style horses are modeled after their traditional wooden counterparts found throughout Japan. In this country, these toys are customarily painted in a vibrant array of colors and adorned with artificial hair tufts. With roots deep within Japanese folklore, these horses have been imbued with symbolic meanings that transcend mere decorative purposes. A black horse, for instance, embodies strength, while a white one is often associated with longevity. Growing up surrounded by an abundance of these vintage toys, I felt driven to create my own versions. Since access to traditional woodworking tools was not an option, I turned to 3D modeling software as a means of bringing these horses to life in the way I knew best. Small holes have been strategically placed within each model, allowing for the addition of hair-like features. Any brush-like material will suffice, such as those found at the ends of brooms. Simply cut the fibers, apply a small amount of glue, and stuff them into the hole to create a unique texture. This item includes three distinct horse models, each representing different regions within Japan: Yahata, Chagu, and Kinoshita. Each toy horse measures approximately 1 inch by 4.5 inches by 3.3 inches, 1 inch by 3.2 inches by 2.6 inches, and 1 inch by 3.8 inches by 3.2 inches respectively. These models can be scaled up or down in size with relative ease, but they do require the addition of supports to maintain structural integrity.
