This miniature aircraft carrier replica represents the Japanese Navy's Shokaku Class at a scaled 1/1800th representation. Various aspects are not accurately represented in their size. The Imperial Japanese Navy constructed two carriers from this class just prior to Pearl Harbor, participating prominently in numerous crucial naval battles during WWII with notable exceptions being the Battle of Midway and another unrecorded occasion. As initially commissioned, they were judged to be superior to any carrier fleet worldwide at that time, accommodating a total aircraft capacity of 72 machines, inclusive of reserve parts plus the addition of eight heavy artillery guns, combined with vast supplies of air defense hardware. Designed specifically for print precision at 1/1800th scale size requirements, possible expansions beyond this standard have proven viable. Notable enlargement exists on both firearm barrels and mast apparatus. The miniature warship stands apart in design quality for its 1/1800th calibrated output and while not perfectly suitable for any expanded edition model size reproduction; scaled-down models are achievable if a lesser print precision ratio requirement becomes necessary. One more addition from my ongoing collection series focuses on the Japanese World War II-era ships - additional replicas are anticipated.
