Japanese New Year's Mochi
thingiverse
This is Japanese lucky mochi with traditional tangerine garnish perched atop. Instructions The rice cake pieces are crafted from Johnson Solids, featuring extruded shapes that follow the z-axis with optimized shelling for reduced material usage. They were printed upside down, similar to miniature bowls, to prevent a critical bridging issue during the final layer's completion as a polygon. The tangerine is also fashioned from a Johnson Solid, subtly modified along its z-axis dimension. Its elegant leaf, inspired by an icosidodecahedron, forms a perfect wedge shape characteristic of Archimedean Solids. All three decorative pieces were carefully crafted using a MakerBot Replicator Mini and high-quality filament in white, green, and vibrant orange hues.
