These beautiful Japanese lanterns were crafted as show-stopping centerpieces and elegant table numbers for a friend's dream wedding. To add an extra touch of magic, battery-powered fairy lights were carefully placed inside each lantern to illuminate them from within for the big day. An impressive 16 centerpieces consisting of 96 individual parts were created using four cutting-edge Ultimakers, which worked tirelessly around the clock for a full week to bring this stunning vision to life! The lanterns are printed in four key components: Frame - Designed to print without any supports, it takes just 8.5 hours to complete at a layer height of 0.2mm, with an infill density of 15% and two shells. Lid - This part snaps perfectly onto the frame, designed for optimal use on the UM2+ bed size, and prints in just 7 hours at the same layer height, infill density, and shell settings as the frame. Insert - To print this part, users need to switch to Spiralize (Vase) mode in Cura, and can choose from natural PLA or a clear filament like T-Glase for a beautiful effect. Numbers (optional) - These parts are printed separately and then carefully glued onto the insert to complete the look. To customize the windows on your own lantern, download the CAD assembly from the Fusion360 Gallery or GrabCAD.
