Japaneese lantern - tōrō 灯籠
thingiverse
The "tōrō" has evolved from its original purpose as an offering to Buddha into a ubiquitous decorative element found in Japanese gardens and shrines worldwide. I crafted this lantern, standing 82mm tall, as a tribute to the beauty of Japanese culture during my time working there. A LED light, powered by a CR1632 battery, replaces the traditional candle, providing soft illumination for extended periods. The lantern's switch is activated by rotating the top section 180°, allowing the user to toggle the light on and off with ease. For optimal performance, ensure that the longer leg of the LED is positioned on the plus side of the battery. My hope is that this design will bring serenity to those who create or acquire it, just as it has for me during its development.
