Jan Karski in Lodz, Poland
myminifactory
This statue honors Jan Karski, a renowned figure from Poland's underground during World War II. Karski is depicted in life-size detail, seated on a park bench with a chess set and board placed beside him to the right. A game is underway, although I'm not skilled enough to determine whether he's winning or losing. Interestingly, Karski appears to be gazing off to his right, away from the board, as if watching his opponent storm off in anger. His legs are crossed, and a cane lies in his hands. This monument was created by Karol Badyna of Krakow. This object is part of "Scan The World," a non-profit initiative introduced by MyMiniFactory, aimed at creating a digital archive of fully 3D printable sculptures, artworks, and landmarks from around the globe for public access. "Scan The World" is an open-source community effort, where anyone with interesting items nearby can contribute by emailing stw@myminifactory.com to learn how they can participate.
