La Jamais Contente, the Never Satisfied, shattered speed records as the first road vehicle to breach the 100-kilometre-per-hour mark on April 29 or May 1, 1899 at Achères, Yvelines, near Paris, France. This Belgian electric marvel boasted a sleek light-alloy bodywork and batteries, but its aerodynamics suffered due to the high driver position and exposed chassis underneath. The revolutionary vehicle's frame was made from partinium, an innovative alloy of aluminium, tungsten, and magnesium. With two direct-drive Postel-Vinay 25 kW motors running at 200 V and drawing 124 A each, La Jamais Contente produced a total output of approximately 68 horsepower. Michelin tires provided the necessary traction for this groundbreaking vehicle, chassis number n°25.
