JAL- Extruder for Ender 3
grabcad
This is a re-designed version of the original Extruder which came with my Creality Ender 3 printer, with the following design goals.1] Tighter filament path constraints, to enable printing with TPE90A (a flexible filament)2] Adds more clearance between the filament input hole in the lever arm, and the Z-Axis lead screw, by changing the filament path angle.3] Higher tension on the lever spring, so more grip strength is applied to the filament.4] Includes a place to attach zip-ties, to aid with cable management. To use it you will need:• One M4 nut.• One M4x10 socket head screw.• 5cm or more of PTFE tube (bowden tubing)The rest of the parts (spring, guide wheel, and screws) already exist on the original Ender 3 extruder, and will be re-used.You must use both the base and the lever arm together, as the filament path is slightly different than that of the original (5 degrees off-angle, and almost 2mm higher), so you will not be able to mix-and match this lever with the original base, nor vise-versa.Print with supports enabled, 0.2mm layer height, 70% infill. After printing:1] Cut a piece of PFTE tube 13mm in length, and trim one end to a point (arrow) shape, and insert it (point out) into the 4mm hole in the base. When cutting, it is best to cut off-center so that the cut on one side (guide pully side) is slightly longer than the other side (gear side)2] Do the same with another, longer piece (I suggest somewhere between 35 to 80 mm) for use in the filament input path.3] Insert an M4 nut into the slot made for it in the lever arm.4] Remove all current extruder hardware (do not allow the motor to fall when you remove the screws), including the bowden tube coupling, and re-use them (except the M4 screw; use a slightly longer one instead) to mount the new extruder.5] Secure your extruder wires with a zip-tie, to the side of the extruder.Caution: Do not tighten the two screws on the lever arm too much; do not restrict movement of the arm or guide bearing.
