Modifications for the Jakks Pacific 18" R2-D2 toy are being undertaken. http://jakksstore.mybigcommerce.com/star-wars-classic-18-r2-d2/ The shoulder pivot enables movement within an 0 - 36 degree range. Plastic bbs measuring 6mm are used as bearings, while assorted hardware with a 3mm diameter is employed. Further development is underway to facilitate smooth shoulder rotation; mini servos connected via linkage or gearing are proposed for this purpose. A minor grinding of the shoulder section was necessary to permit movement and allow passage of wires through it. Cutting of the ankles of the leg is required, with custom pivots printed to enable movement in that area. Modifications will continue as the build progresses.
