The Jagdpanzer IV retained the basic chassis of the Panzer IV tank, but replaced its original vertical front plate with a sharp-edged nose. Internally, the layout was altered to accommodate the new superstructure, relocating fuel tanks and ammunition racks. Jagdpanzer IV was an effective defensive weapon, but was produced too late and in limited quantities to have significant impact on the war situation.
