The jade pei pendant was unearthed in Tomb 60 at Liulige, Hui County, Henan Province, buried with the deceased individual. This light green jade ornament takes the form of two interlocking phoenixes, exhibiting a circular overall shape and intricate openwork carvings that replicate both its shape and decoration. The two sides of the pendant rise upward to create the heads of the phoenixes, while their ring-shaped bodies merge seamlessly together. A single engraved line encircles the edge of the ornament, defining the shape of the phoenixes, and the entire piece is filled with curling cloud patterns. The patterns on the reverse side of the pendant do not align with its shape, suggesting that it was reworked from an old piece of jade.
