Jacquelyn_Quirk solidThinking Inspire 2016 optimized bracket

The Alcon bearing bracket challenge was tackled using the Altair HyperWorks CAE suite's latest tools in a project that involved two designs. Generative design in solidThinking Inspire, which considered all three load cases, FEA reanalysis, and polynurbs functionality from the soon-to-be-released Inspire 2016 were employed. A technology demonstration was also conducted using HyperWorks 13.0 and OptiStruct's 2-phase lattice optimization capability, though only a photo of the optimized design is included. The model will be used as a tutorial on Altair University's academic website to help students and industry learn how to design for 3D printing using Altair tools. Additional model files and information about methodology are available upon request. This project was inspired by a titanium aerospace bracket case study by Altair UK in collaboration with EADS, which can be found at https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&ved=0ahUKEwjqyOu1_sfKAhWLaxQKHXhfBA8QFggdMAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.altair.com%2FResLibDownload.aspx%3Ffile_id%3D1188&usg=AFQjCNG7OB5kIWZj33EU4Z12FpZHFuGAwA&cad=rja.
