Jack / SiF6 molecule
thingiverse
This is a basic 3D SiF6 (silicon hexafluoride, or sulfur hexafluoride, etc.) molecule which can double as a fun top that spins or desk piece. Changing the size and printing multiple versions can create a bunch of jacks (the old toys). Print Settings: Printer: M3D Rafts: Yes Supports: Yes Notes: Medium density / medium detail makes a fine sample. No wave bonding. Post-Printing: Use supports! How I Designed This: I opened the .xyz molecule file in Visual Molecular dynamics (VMD), set graphics as desired, and rendered .stl file. Then I uploaded .stl to Microsoft Netfabb, took the fixed .stl file and used it with my printer. Finally, I adjusted the size as desired and printed it!
