Here's an easy way to turn a bottle into a lamp without having to drill or cut any glass. To start, you'll need a "plug" that fits snugly inside bottles with an inner diameter of around 18 mm. I was thinking about making it screw on the bottle, but then I worried that the wire might not end up at the back of the bottle. The thread on this plug is roughly 27 mm in diameter with a pitch of 2 mm. This worked perfectly for the lamp holder I used, and it looks like a standard size - at least where I live.
