I sought to enhance printing reliability and simplify maintenance by incorporating a J6 hot end into my custom-built Prusa i3. This interface attaches to a Wade extruder secured with 4mm bolts. To improve hot end cooling, I designed an enlarged fan adapter since the mount is made of ABS plastic. The adapter performs exceptionally well, particularly when printing with PLA and a 1mm nozzle. To facilitate effortless filament changes, I shortened the Teflon pipe just below the extruder gear, positioning it almost adjacent to the gear. This modification allows for seamless roll replacements even while the printer is actively printing.
