j38 Navy Flameproof CW Key Base
thingiverse
I have a highly sought-after Navy Fireproof Morse Code Key that's let down by its plywood base, which doesn't do it justice. It's not a classic J38 key, but I designed this base as a learning exercise in Tinkercad, only to find out my printer is just too small to produce this design. I smacked myself on the forehead when I realized that. I guess I'll have to order one instead. The base is upside down as printed, but it still has all the internal posts and pads in place where they need to be for mounting screws and contacts that will connect to my transceiver. It should function as a table if everything fits together like I think it should. Four legs at each corner plus the internal vertical supports are large enough to hold non-skid pads. The key mounts with a lever arm hanging over one end of the table, so my arm rests on the desktop while sending Morse code. I originally planned to make it with black PLA or ABS and keep the finish to a minimum. If I like the final result, I'll upload a photo and wiring diagram. -KD4IZ
