J-Head adapter for Solidoodle 2
thingiverse
This two-part adapter enables secure attachment of a J-Head MkV onto the "Jigsaw Replacement Extruder mk3" by lawsy et al, and can also be used to mount an original Makergear-style hotend without the plywood plate. Note that it uses the mounting bosses usually reserved for accessory mounting. However, this means you now have the plywood plate mounting holes available. To use, print the model with heavy fill and check the fit of both pieces against the PEEK cylinder groove and in the lower extruder piece slot. Some minor touch-ups may be needed. Insert the small part into the lower extruder block, re-mount it on the stepper motor, slide in the J-head, and attach the front retainer using self-tapping screws. Be aware that removing the plywood plate might cause a carriage crash; consider extending your X limit switch's arm or modifying the front retainer for a fix. Overall, enjoy printing with a less problematic hot-end!
