Izembek Point XCB-003-481 is a site thoroughly examined by A.P. McCartney in 1971. It serves as the primary reference point for the Izembek Phase. A small village with a distinctive whalebone house and numerous artifacts closely resembling those found in the Bristol Bay region exists at this site. Dating back approximately 1200-1350 CE, it provides valuable insights into the cultural practices of the time. The Alaska Peninsula artifacts are presented as a direct result of extensive research conducted under grants NSF 9630072, NSF 9814086, NSF 9996372, NSF 9996415, NSF 1139266, and NSF 1321411. H. Maschner is the Principal Investigator responsible for overseeing this research project. The artifacts were carefully scanned using either a Faro Edge Arm or a Minolta Vivid 9i. Subsequent processing and publication of these artifacts were completed in Geomagic or Polyworks. Between 2-8 photos were utilized to create texture in Geomagic Wrap. Original digitizing work was carried out at the IVL at Id. St. Univ., while subsequent processing and publication were completed at Global Digital Heritage. McCartney, A.P. (1974) conducted thorough research on Prehistoric Cultural Integration along the Alaska Peninsula, which was published in APUA 16(1):59-84. Additionally, Maschner's research is available online with a DOI of 10.1353/arc.2011.0007, and it was published in Arctic Anthro. on January 1, 2004, vol. 41 no. 2, pp. 98-111.
