Izembek Point XCB-003-356 XCB-003 or IZM-003 was tested by A.P. McCartney in 1971. It is the type-site for the Izembek Phase, a small village with a unique whalebone house and many artifacts similar to those found in the Bristol Bay region. This site dates approximately 1200-1350 CE. The Alaska Peninsula artifacts were produced as a result of research conducted under grants NSF 9630072, NSF 9814086, NSF 9996372, NSF 9996415, NSF 1139266, and NSF 1321411. H. Maschner was the Principal Investigator for this project. These artifacts were scanned with either a Faro Edge Arm or a Minolta Vivid 9i. Processing occurred in Geomagic or Polyworks, utilizing 2-8 photos per texture in Geomagic Wrap. Original digitizing work took place at the IVL at Id. St. Univ., while subsequent processing and publication were completed at Global Digital Heritage. McCartney's research is documented in Prehistoric Cultural Integration along the Alaska Peninsula, published in APUA 16(1):59-84 in 1974. Additional information can be found in Maschner's Arctic Anthro article, doi: 10.1353/arc.2011.0007, published on January 1, 2004, in volume 41, number 2, pages 98-111.
