Izembek Point XCB-003-111\nXCB-003, or IZM-003, was thoroughly examined by A.P. McCartney in 1971. This site is the defining location for the Izembek Phase. A small village with a distinctive whalebone house and numerous artifacts similar to those found in the Bristol Bay region exists there. It dates back approximately 1200-1350 CE.\nThe Western Alaska Peninsula artifacts are presented as a direct result of research conducted under grants NSF 9630072, NSF 9814086, NSF 9996372, NSF 9996415, NSF 1139266, and NSF 1321411. H. Maschner led the investigation as Principal Investigator. These artifacts were scanned using either a Faro Edge Arm or a Minolta Vivid 9i. They were then processed in Geomagic or Polyworks. 2-8 photos were used to create texture in Geomagic Wrap. The original digitizing work was done at the IVL on Id. St. Univ.'s campus, while subsequent processing and publication were completed at Global Digital Heritage.\nMcCartney, A.P., authored "Prehistoric Cultural Integration along the Alaska Peninsula" in 1974. It was published in APUA 16(1):59-84. Maschner's work, with a DOI of 10.1353/arc.2011.0007, appeared in Arctic Anthro on January 1, 2004, vol. 41 no. 2, pages 98-111.
