Izembek Point Base XCB-003-548\nXCB-003 or IZM-003 is a site thoroughly tested by A.P. McCartney in 1971. It serves as the type-site for the Izembek Phase. This small village features a unique whalebone house and numerous artifacts similar to those found in the Bristol Bay region. The site dates approximately 1200-1350 CE. Alaska Peninsula artifacts are presented as a result of research conducted under grants NSF 9630072, NSF 9814086, NSF 9996372, NSF 9996415, NSF 1139266 and NSF 1321411. H. Maschner serves as the Principal Investigator for this research. The artifacts were scanned using either a Faro Edge Arm or a Minolta Vivid 9i. Subsequent processing was done in Geomagic or Polyworks. 2-8 photos were used to create texture in Geomagic Wrap. Original digitizing work was completed at the IVL at Idaho State University, with subsequent processing and publication finished at Global Digital Heritage. McCartney, A.P. conducted research on prehistoric cultural integration along the Alaska Peninsula in his 1974 publication. The article is published in APUA volume 16(1) on pages 59-84. Maschner's research can also be found online with the DOI number 10.1353/arc.2011.0007, which was published in Arctic Anthropology on January 1, 2004, issue 41 no. 2, pages 98-111.
