IXUS with Parallel Architecture at the Local Motors UALV contest

grabcad

The IXUS, a UALV contest entry by Local Motors, utilizes Parallel Architecture. Designed by José Fco. Rosales, this innovative vehicle features an engine placed within the central dashboard, parallel to the driver's legs. The engine is an inline, longitudinal design, enabling easy access to the cylinder heads through a top central dashboard opening, while routine maintenance can be performed from the hood like in regular cars. This unique layout maximizes cargo capacity and preserves sporty driving dynamics by positioning the engine in a mid-centre location.
