Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, an Indian lawyer, politician, social activist, and writer born in Porbandar, India on October 2, 1869, is often remembered as the leader of the nationalist movement against British rule in India. Gandhi played a significant role in challenging British authority with a historic march called the Dandi Salt March in 1930, covering a distance of over 250 miles to protest the imposed salt tax. Two years later, he launched the Quit India Movement, calling on Britons to leave Indian soil. Throughout his life, Gandhi faced numerous imprisonments in both South Africa and India for advocating nonviolent resistance against British rule. A humble man who led by example, Gandhi lived a simple life with his family in a self-sufficient community, wearing traditional Indian attire woven from yarn hand-spun on a charkha spinning wheel. He followed a strict vegetarian diet and observed prolonged fasts as both spiritual cleansing rituals and effective tools for rallying public support. Gandhi's vision of a harmonious India, inclusive of diverse faiths and ethnicities, was marred by emerging nationalist sentiments within Muslim communities during the 1940s, which called for a separate Islamic state. As British rule officially ended in August 1947 with the partition of the Indian subcontinent into two sovereign nations – a Hindu-dominated India and an Islamist Pakistan – widespread violence broke out between adherents of different faiths, claiming lives and causing extensive destruction across regions like Punjab and Bengal. Undeterred by widespread jubilation elsewhere in India upon independence day celebrations, Gandhi personally addressed displaced individuals, especially those from Punjab and Bengal, to offer support. Furthermore, throughout several successive years, he continued implementing rigorous non-violence efforts to counter persistent conflict within his nation. It was in an ongoing attempt at calming tensions when, on January 12, 1948, at the age of 78, he began one last 'fast unto death', as an indirect means to urge India into providing its pledged monetary assistance to Pakistan. Unfortunately not all Indians accepted Gandhi's approach; a zealous Hindu extremist named Nathuram Godse disagreed with Gandhi and fired bullets straight at his chest while the nonviolent leader walked through Delhi streets. It was this terrible deed, perpetrated when 78-year-old Gandhi stood near New Delhi on January 30th, 1948, marking an irreparable loss to all who cherished human life above power or ideology. Internationally known and widely respected as an international emblem of non-violent resistance and civil rights leader since his lifetime days, Gandhi is today also celebrated as Bapu, meaning endearing paternal title 'father', on account of a profound respect Indians accord him - much to this day commemorating the life of this revered icon, India still honors his 2nd birthday with the title Mahatma. Today in one of private collection, the artist's masterpiece resides. 3D scanning utilized a DSLR digital camera and Reality Capture technology alongside Zbrush photo editing software resulted in two texturing maps which were further rendered with both High Resolution Color Map as well as high Resolution Normal Map Displacement Mapping at an extremely fine detail, that would rival most professional CGI renderings or photorealistic image making,
