A sculpture named after Mahatma Gandhi, Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, (born October 2, 1869, Porbandar, India—died January 30, 1948, Delhi), \nwas an Indian lawyer, politician, social activist, and writer who emerged as the leader of the nationalist movement against British rule in India.\nGandhi led Indians in challenging the British-imposed salt tax with the Dandi Salt March, a 250-mile journey along the 400 km coastline in 1930, and later in demanding that the British quit India in 1942. He was imprisoned numerous times in both South Africa and India for his activism. Gandhi lived simply in a self-sufficient community and wore traditional Indian clothing, including a dhoti and shawl made from yarn spun on a charkha by hand. His diet consisted of simple vegetarian food, and he also practiced long fasts as a means of personal purification and protest.\nThis sculpture is part of a private collection in Mumbai.\nIt was created using a DSLR camera to capture 3D images, which were then processed with Reality Capture and Zbrush software.
