Italian Carabiner
thingiverse
I created these simple Italian carabiners starting from a chain design by jomarfe7 (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2840345). My grandparents told me that Italian carabiners were widely used in the past as a handy way to join and split chains, climb with ropes, and tackle many other tasks at sea. They were easily made by users themselves using a rasp or file. Nowadays, they have been replaced by modern tools and new materials. I share this with you as a tribute to the good old days. To connect them, place two pieces in a perpendicular position just like the picture shows. To separate, do the opposite. Thanks for looking!
