It's Been a Long Knight

pinshape

This is a sculpture I created specifically for Pinshape's Character Modeling Contest. While brainstorming and sketching, I doodled a stylized Batman that really caught my eye, so I pursued it in a 3D sculpt. I'm not a professional artist, but I've recently discovered a new passion for 3D artistic design after getting Oculus Medium, the VR sculpting app. This sculpture was made entirely in Medium, with the exception of the base, which was added in 123D Design. I also used Meshlab to simplify the model and reduce its complexity, as Medium can produce results that are a bit inefficient. When it comes to inspiration, Batman isn't my favorite superhero, but I've always loved how he's portrayed in the Arkham game series. The games usually take place over just a handful of hours, often one night, and by the end, he's battered and bruised, with more crime to fight waiting for him. The idea of Batman as a long-suffering parent of Gotham has always been humorous to me, and it was a nice coincidence that my sculpture's theme fit in with this concept.
