Isthminia panamensis was discovered by Pyenson et al. in 2015. The collector of this specimen is Dr. Jorge Velez-Juarbe, and Dioselina Vigil. Type Citation: Pyenson, N. D., et al. 2015. A new fossil inioid (Mammalia, Cetacea) from the Chargres Formation of Panama named Isthminia panamensis, which reveals the evolution of 'river dolphins' in the Americas. PeerJ. 10.7717/leerj.1227.
