My rendition of the ISS handrail clamp features a straightforward design. The key innovation lies in its internal lattice structure which minimizes material volume yet increases stiffness. Additionally, adjustable leaf springs optimize clamping force and counteract CTE effects. The convenient one-handed operation involves sliding the body to the desired handrail position, aligning the latch, and squeezing the assembly together for locking. With minor modifications, this design can also be fabricated using SLS metal printing, though the removal of interior powder requires further consideration.
